Jessica Bosworth Smith (b. 1989) is a South African artist, illustrator, and children’s book author based in Cape Town. She studied Fine Arts at Rhodes University and earned an Honours degree in Visual Studies (Illustration) from Stellenbosch University. Her work spans painting, ceramics, and found-object interventions, often featuring intricate, maximalist scenes of interiors, jungles, and whimsical landscapes. She is also known for her children’s books, including The Straw Giant & The Crow and Liefie. Her storytelling and artwork explore themes of memory, history, and the esoteric, using experimental techniques to push the boundaries of illustration.
